The Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH Intl.) values quality mentorship and believes it is instrumental to the success of instructor candidates completing any level or discipline of certification.
This is mentoring skill development program that was created in response to the need for a more formalized education process to enhance the skills of those mentoring. The objective is to increase the number of qualified mentors available to instructors in training. Another added benefit is to provide current PATH Intl. Certified Instructors with a continuing education opportunity while enhancing personal observation, evaluation and feedback skills.
In order to mentor an instructor in training through their required 25 hours of practice teaching you need only hold PATH Intl. Registered Level certification or higher, Driving level 1-3 if you are mentoring driving instructors, both driving and registered if your are mentor riding instructors or Vaulting level Certification. The mentor training course is not required to mentor other instructors, though it is beneficial. It offers techniques to be a better mentor.
If you are a PATH Intl. certified instructor in good standing and attend the mentor training workshop, your name will be added to the list of PATH Intl. Mentors. Certification candidates and/or mentors in training can contact the PATH Intl. office to find mentors who have attended this workshop if they choose.
The mentor training workshop is available to anyone who would like to take it; you simply have to be a PATH Intl. member to attend. It can be beneficial for program directors to take this workshop to enhance their mentor program at their center. PATH Intl. encourages all centers to reach out to potential instructor candidates and develop a mentor program, this program could also add extra income for your center.
All participants who attend mentor training will be signed up for the PATH Intl. online CAT and Self Study exam so they are aware of the current exams instructors in training are taking, these exams do not have to be passed with any specific score.
Please download the Mentor Training application and visit our PATH Intl. Events Calendar for workshop dates.
