Registered Therapist Program
Thank you for your interest in Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH Intl.) Registered Therapist status. The PATH Intl. Registered Therapist program is for someone who is a licensed therapist (OT, PT, COTA, PTA, SLP or SLPA) who would like to do hippotherapy at a PATH Intl. Member Center. This is not a certification; it is recognition of completion of the AHA, Inc., courses and your ability to perform hippotherapy as a licensed therapist.
In order to become a PATH Intl. Registered Therapist a person must complete the necessary training and requirements with the American Hippotherapy Association, Inc., first and then complete the PATH Intl. Registered Therapist application process with PATH Intl. Please contact American Hippotherapy Association, Inc. for procedure and trainings available.
After you have completed level 1 and level 2 equine skills and treatment principles with AHA, Inc., please send to PATH Intl. an application, $20, proof of passing your AHA, Inc., courses, a copy of your license, and 20 documented hours you have performed under another PATH Intl. registered therapist, AHCB certified therapist or HPCS of one-on-one treatment in Hippotherapy.
If you are not a current PATH Intl. member, please also send in a PATH Intl. membership application.
Please review the PATH Intl. Standards for Certification and Accreditation Manual as well so you are aware of our core standards and our specialty standards in Hippotherapy so you can be sure all standards are being met during your hippotherapy lesson at a PATH Intl. Member Center. Please also note that if you are not also a registered instructor with PATH Intl., a PATH Intl. Certified Registered Instructor needs to assist during all treatment involving horses.
If you have any other questions please contact the certification department at (800) 369-7433.
