Senior Instructor

Little Bit instructors are responsible for delivering therapeutic riding lessons and equine management during hippotherapy treatments. They are expected to meet the highest standards of safety, communication, planning and evaluation. In addition to Instructor duties, this position is responsible for 1) managing the part-time instructors and class assistants; and 2) creating and updating the Rider Schedule and Rider List every session. (S)he works closely with the full-time instructors and is their representative in the Horse Council meeting. Volunteers are an essential part of our operation and instructors are expected to provide guidance, support and feedback to help volunteers grow in their roles.

This is an exempt, full-time position. S/he supervises 4+ part-time instructors and 7+ class assistants, and reports directly to the Adaptive Services Director.

Basic Requirements:
•    Bachelor’s degree in equine-related fields, education, therapy or social services, or related field with a minimum of 5 years work experience or an equivalent combination of education, riding and training experience.  
•    PATH International Advanced Instructor, or willing to work toward it.
•    Three years’ experience as an instructor in riding and/or horsemanship.
•    Two years’ experience coaching and supervising staff or volunteers.
